Very striking and large, this antique Asian Soup Tureen includes the original lid and meat platter. Very handsome, with heavy gold on lid handle and side handles. Hand painted Geishas in a village scene, interesting and very detailed. Lemon in picture is to give a visual scale of size. It is large! From late 1800s.
At some point this antique piece was professionally appraised as a business card from an appraisal company out of North Carolina was found inside the tureen. I will be sending the business card also.
The interior of the tureen is very nice as shown in picture. No blemishes on the tureen itself or the underplate. There are no chips or cracks, although on the lid, there are 3 small black dots, like very small dabs of black, noted in picture #5. Does not detract in any way from the functionality or appeal of this impressive piece. Please note the wear of the gold on the side handles and lid, as to be expected with a piece over 100 years old.
Tureen measures 14 inches by 12 inches by 10 inches (with lid on). The meat platter measures 13 1/2 inches by 11 1/4 inches and is 2 3/4 inches deep.
