Mackinac Island Souvenir, Pin or Trinket Dish, Cufflink Holder, Jewelry Dish, Bates and Klinke, Attleboro Mass

Great old pin or jewelry dish honoring Mackinac Island, Michigan, a famous and charming resort. My in-laws, in the 1940s, went on the honeymoon to Mackinac Island. Marked on the bottom of the dish is engraved Bates and Klinke Attleboro Mass, so in researching, I discovered that in Attleboro, there is a museum with all of the souvenirs created by Bates and Klinke.

This heavy well made dish measures 3 3/4 inches in diameter and stands 1 inch deep, no chips or cracks, no dents, wear on the metal exterior as shown in pictures.

Below is information about the infamous Bates and Klinke Company of Attleboro, this was pulled from the website for the museum -

Pins, spoons, letter openers, medallions and charms are just some the items made by companies such as Bates & Klinke in the first half of the last century that were distributed to tourists at a wide range of historical sites across the country.

In addition to being collectible, durable and in some cases valuable - they represent a portal into the natural, political and cultural history of the country.

Some of the sites for which mementos were made include Abraham Lincoln's birthplace, the Civil War prison camp in Andersonville, Ga., the Gettysburg battlefield, Mark Twain's boyhood home in Hannibal, Mo., the Statue of Liberty, the U.S. Capitol, Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello, Washington's home at Mount Vernon, Andrew Jackson's home in Nashville, Tenn., the Pony Express Stables Museum and the Cripple Creek Colorado Gold Miners Camp.
